Announcements:

The following is a brief description on how Jack deVos spent his time while on Oahu. A big mahalo goes out to those members who took time out of their busy schedules to show Jack our island and the Aloha spirit. Thanks Craig for the following:
Tuesday David Higa got Jack settled in at the Woodcraft store and familiarized with the lathe and the layout. They later toured the leeward side with a stop at Michael Lee's, lunch at a Chinese restaurant, and a stop at Ed Potter's.
Wednesday Jim Orrick hosted Jack and Ina to a tour of the windward side and North Shore, with stops at Tat Enos' shop, Waimea Bay, lunch at Kua Aina and an early dinner at the Orrick's. Then on to the demo where Tom Young provided the projector and projectionist services.
Thursday Jack visited Ron Kent, and tried L&L bar-b-que for lunch. The afternoon found him in my shop roughing out blanks of beautiful Hawaiian wood given to him by club members, while Ina enjoyed the beautiful weather and the pool. Dinner at Champa Thai in Kailua was an adventure, chop sticks and all. Then off to the airport for a late night flight home.

E-mail sent to Craig Mason from Jack: "He and Ina had a great time" and I just got an e-mail from him saying he got his stash of Hawaiian wood back through customs with no problem. He's a happy camper.

Program: Craig Mason introduced Jack deVos and demonstration began.

Challenge: There was no challenge at this meeting to allow Jack deVos ample time for his demonstration.

The challenge for the July 11 meeting is a turned platter -- no maximum diameter, 1 inch maximum height and any type of wood.

Meeting adjourned at 9:05 p.m.

(Keeper of the Scrolls) Stewart Chow
